During the pandemic west coast artist Tessa May began experimenting with new ways of creating, playing with new material and processes, while also repurposing and reusing studio material. The dazzling results on view in Grenfell Art Gallery’s New Media/Project Gallery were two streams of creativity that invite interaction, generating a sense of agency and order in the process.

Tessa May is originally from Aberdeen, Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1984. She attended Memorial University’s School of Fine Arts at Grenfell Campus as a mature student with two young children in school at the time. She graduated in 1998 with a Batchelor of Fine Arts degree. Tessa lives on Newfoundland’s west coast and has been a professional artist since 1996.
