Deepen your knowledge of pigments and binders, and learn the steps and processes involved in making handmade dry pastels
Location: FA 305 - Drawing / Painting Studio, Fine Arts Building
This all-day workshop offers the chance to deepen knowledge of pigments and binders, learn the steps and processes involved in making handmade dry pastels, and use local wild clays to develop colour palettes which resonate with your environment.
Most materials are included.
Participants should bring:
An apron or smock
2 or 3 empty glass jars of different sizes
an N-95 mask.
Parking is available in the P2 lot without a permit on weekends. We will be providing a light lunch, participants can indicate dietary needs on the ticket page or bring their own lunch.
Optional field trip: Pending weather conditions, we are hoping to arrange a clay-digging field trip on the morning of Saturday, October 24. Participants will receive updates by email on this optional pre-workshop fieldtrip.

About the artist facilitator:
Andréanne Godin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Laval University and a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University. She explores expanded drawing practices while challenging boundaries between mediums. Her work has been presented in several solo and group exhibitions in Quebec, Canada and internationally. She is represented by Galerie Nicolas Robert. Andréanne is one of 16 artists in the upcoming exhibition at Grenfell Art Gallery, Lines in the Snow: Contemporary Canadian Drawing, curated by Zachari Logan (October 24 - December 19 2026.
